Karan Johar Lauds Kartik Aaryan, Calls Chandu Champion His ‘Career-Best Performance’

Karan Johar has praised Kartik Aaryan for his recent performance in Kabir Khan’s directorial, Chandu Champion. Recently, KJo took to his Instagram stories to laud the film when he also called it Kartik’s “career-best performance”.

“Kabir Khan directs this brave and inspiring life tale like a love letter to the human spirit,” wrote Karan while sharing the film’s poster. “Kartik Aaryan gives his career-best performance with a humane and honest portrayal…A must watch,” the filmmaker added.

Directed by Kabir Khan, Chandu Champion hit theatres on June 14, 2024. The film is based on the life of India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Murlikant Petkar. It received mixed reviews from all and has earned close to Rs 40 crore at the Indian box office as of now.

Lately, Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan have become good on terms once again. The two had a fallout in 2021 when Kartik was dropped from Karan’s Dostana 2. The film was supposed to feature Kartik alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Even though the shooting of the movie had already begun, Kartik was removed from it. The rumours about Kartik’s “unprofessional” behaviour upsetting Karan Johar surfaced online.

However, on Kartik’s 33rd birthday last year, Karan Johar took to his official Instagram account to announce a movie with the actor. “Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies and @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025! Kartik, happy birthday to you… may our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen,” he had written.

Earlier this month, Kartik was speaking to Lallantop when he opened up about his fallout with KJo and said, “I was silent when the news came about and I choose to stay silent even now. I am 100% focused on my work and when controversies of such nature happen, I stay calm about them. I don’t get involved a lot in them and I don’t have to prove anything to anyone by getting involved.”
